Congratulations to the Pittsburg Penguins!

In keeping with today’s theme of hockey (and we promise to move off this subject soon), the Paladin just HAS to comment on the Penguins…
When a team battles so valiantly for a goal that they earn the respect of their opponents, even if they do not achieve the ultimate step in their goal, this says something about their warrior spirit.
While the Paladin is elated that the Red Wings have won the Stanley Cup (he lives in Michigan), he cannot help but tip his hat in respect to the mighty Penguins. They have heart, spirit, determination and tenacity that was laid out on national television for all to see. Their amazing “never give up” attitude and hard fought games show that they too are Champions, even if they are not taking home the Cup this year. They deserved to be in the Finals, to be sure, and I am quite certain that they will be taking home the Cup in future years (even if the Paladin is rooting for the Red Wings!).
It has long been the Paladin’s philosophy that the way you truly win in life is to live/play with the heart of a true Warrior, and the Penguins have demonstrated this many times over in the finals. I mean, come on, the finish in game 5, and game 6 being decided in the last tenth of a second!
Please do not feel like I am slighting the Red Wings…for they had to be up to the task to defeat the Penguins on the ice, but outside of the world of “zero-sum” games, both teams demonstrated why they are the best of the best.
Congratulations are in order to the Detroit Red Wings, but the Penguins deserve our respect and accolades as well.
Here’s to the Warrior Spirit displayed by both hockey teams…thank you for reminding us all of the best that team sports have to offer…
