Slow Start to 2009

Posted by ThePaladin on February 27th, 2009

My apologies, citizens of the realm, for the slow start in 2009. The site has not been updated as it should have been. The Paladin has been engaged in a personal project that has taken time away from this wonderful site.

But fear not, more computing goodness is about to arrive!

WARNING: Internet Explorer Security Issue Requires Your IMMEDIATE Attention!

Posted by ThePaladin on December 16th, 2008

Greetings Citizens of the Realm!

This is an urgent warning to all of you that use Internet Explorer: TO PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER AND YOUR DATA, YOU NEED TO SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT BROWSER IMMEDIATELY, EVEN IF ONLY FOR A SHORT WHILE!

It was recently discovered that there is a VERY big security issue with all versions of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer that allows a website to compromise your system and steal passwords that you enter. The security issue is very sinister in that all you have to do is visit a web page that has the malicious code on it to become a victim!

For more details you can read an article posted at http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/111811.

Please note that nearly all industry security experts are urgently advising users to switch to a different browser until Microsoft can come up with a patch to fix the problem. You do not have to remove Internet Explorer from your system…just stop using it until a fix becomes available.

As of the present moment, however, Microsoft has not released a patch to fix the problem.

As a matter of course, this is one reason why the Paladin advises his readers to use a web browser OTHER THAN Internet Explorer. In a nutshell, because those low-life scum who exploit such security holes almost always target Internet Explorer because it is in such wide-use.

For a fine alternative to Internet Explorer, consider Firefox, a free and open source web browser than you can easily download and use by clicking on this link to www.firefox.com.

There are many other fine alternatives to the Internet Explorer web browser. Click here to see the Paladin’s information on alternative web browsers.

So be safe, citizens of the realm, and keep a watch for new developments on this issue.
